General Information Of Bearings / Sleeves

A Bearing is a machine element that constrains relative motions & reducing friction between two moving parts to only the desired motion.

Bearings are mainly classified into two main type - Rolling bearings & Sliding bearings.Rolling contact bearings can be subdivided further into Ball Bearings & Roller Bearings according to rolling element.

Radial Bearing are mainly designed for supporting a load perpendicular to a shaft axis, whereas thrust bearings accepts load parallel to the shaft axis.

Ball Bearing can be further divided according to the number of rows into either single row or double row.Roller Bearing may be further divided according to the shape of the roller into the subclasses Cylindrical Roller , Taper Roller , Spherical Roller & Needle Roller Bearings.

Types Of Bearings & Sleeves:

Deep Groove Ball Bearing

Deep groove ball bearings are the most popular of all the bearing types & are therefore produced in a large no. of sizes & designs.Deep groove ball bearings can sustain radial , axial or composite loads.Due to its simple design this bearings can be produced to provide high running accuracy & high speed operations.These bearings are supplied with shields at both sides filled with a lithium base grease which is suitable for operating temperature between -30 degree to +110 degree. Size available - 6800 , 6900 , 6000 , 6200 , 6300 , 16000 .

Self Aligning Ball Bearings

Self aligning ball bearings are constructed with the inner ring & ball assembly contained within an outer ring which has a spherical raceways.So , this construction allows the bearing to tolerate a small angular misalignment from deflection or mounting error.Such bearings are mainly used in bearing arrangement within a very long shafts , such as transmission shafts in textiles factories & over head cranes.Bearings are fitted with pressed steel cage or polyamide cage. Size available - 1200 , 2200 , 1300 , 2300.

Angular Contact Ball Bearings

Angular contact ball bearings can sustain both radial & axial loads simultaneously because they have a contact angle .The angle of contact on the inner race is always same as that on the outer race.These bearing are generally used in high speed application such as turbines , jet engines & dentistry equipments.Angular contact ball bearings are also available in double rowseries.This type bearing can sustain radial , moment & bi -directional axial loads Size available - 7000 , 7200 , 7300 , 5200 , 5300 , 3200 , 3300.

Cylindrical Roller Bearing

Cylindrical roller bearing is the simplest of all radial roller bearings.This bearing type has a large radial load capacity because the inner ring , outer ring & rollers are in line contact.Cylindrical roller bearing are also available in Double row series.This type of bearing are used for high speed , high accuracy application such as lathe m/c , milling machines & machines centers.Bearings are fitted with pressed steel , polyamide resin or brass cages according to their application. Design available - N , NU , NJ , NUP , NF , NN , NNU , NP , NH , NUH etc.... Size available - 200 , 300 , 400 , 2300 , 2200.

Tapered Roller Bearings

Taper roller bearings have tapered inner & outer ring raceways between which tapered roller are arranged.A single row tapered roller bearing can support a combined radial & axial load.The inner ring & roller assembly is called the "cone" and the outer ring is called the "cup" Taper roller bearing are available in double row & four row series.This bearing type can be used in a preload situation to obtain high rigidity & better running accuracy.This types of bearings are also available in inch dimensional series. Size available - 30202 , 30302 , 32004 , 32300 , 33000 , 32900 , 31300 , inch series etc..

Spherical Roller Bearings

Spherical roller bearings has two rows of rollers with a common sphered raceway in the outer ring.The two inner ring raceways are inclined at an angle to the bearing axis.This type of bearings are particularly suitable for applications where misalignment can arise from error in mounting or from shaft shaft deflection.This bearings are provided in large no. of sizes & designs. Spherical roller bearings are available with cylindrical plain bore & tapered bore.Lubrication holes & grooves are often made on the outer ring for feeding lubricant. Size available - 21300 , 22200 , 22300 , 23200 , 23000 , 24000 , 24100 , 23100.

Thrust Ball Bearings

Thrust ball bearings can handle axial load only.Thrust ball bearings are made as single direction & double directions.Single direction thrust ball bearings can sustain axial load in one direction only , whereas double direction thrust ball bearing can sustain bi-directional thrust load.Bearings ring mounted on the shaft are called shaft washers & those mounted in the bearing housing are called housing washers.Both washers contains grooves for the balls. Size available - 51100 , 51200 , 51300 , 51400, 52200 , 52300 , 52400 , O Series.

Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings

In Spherical roller thrust bearing the load is transmitted from one raceway to the other at an angle of the bearing axis.The contact angle is approximately 45 degree enabling the bearing to support axial load & small amount of moderate radial load.This type of bearing can sustain high load at low moderate speeds , so for the same characteristics this bearing are used in injection moulding machines , crane hookes & other machines. Size available - 29412 , 29317.

Ball Bearing Unit

Ball bearing unit are single row deep groove ball bearing sealed at both sides & having a sphered outside curved surface.This bearings are mounted on housings of cast iron or pressed steel having sphered bore.Because of their particular characteristics , these unit are mainly used in textiles machinery , agricultral machinery , construction equipment , conveyor system & food processing industry. Design available - UCP , UCPX , UCPK , UCPH , UCPA , UCF , UCFC , UCFL , UCT , etc ..... Size available - 200 , 300.

Plummer Block Housing

Plummer block housing ease to constitute bearing units by using with self aligning ball bearing or spherical roller bearing.This types of housings are available in wide range of sizes & configuration which allows wide selection options. Design available - S , SN , SNA , SAF etc...... Size available - 200 , 300 , 500 , 600.

Sleeves , Lock Nuts , Lock Washers

Taper bored bearings are mounted on shaft using adapter or withdrawl sleeves Use of adapter or withdrawl sleeve may allow use of less expensive shaft seals (no tapering cost) permits use of larger shaft tolerances & allow variable location of a bearing on a shaft.To prevent lock nuts from losening , lock washer are used for shaft of diameter 200 mm or less. Size available - H/HE 200 , 300 , 3100 , 2300. AH 300 , 3100 , 2300 , 3200 , 3000. LOCK NUT / LOCK WASHERS - KM / MB SERIES.

Needle Roller Bearings

Needle roller bearings are high precision roller bearings with a low sectional height in corporating needle rollers as the rolling element.Inspite of their low sectional height , the bearing have a high load carrying capacity & are thus eminenly suitable of bearing arrangements where radial space is limited.By using needle roller bearing machines can be made more compact & lighter , thus saving cost. Many rolling elements in this bearing type are arranged at a small spacing pitch and this configuration is most suited to oscillating motions.Needle bearing are grouped into shell type needle roller bearings , machined type needle roller bearings , cam followers & various other types.
